About Me

Welcome to maiko.cafe! I’m maiko (or Michael), and I like helping businesses and creative agencies succeed by letting them focus on their strengths while I figure out the rest.

My background is in operations and project management, with a focus on building and improving processes that reduce friction for everyone involved. I’ve spent nearly a decade exclusively in early-stage companies across a range of industries and so I’ve touched a bit of everything: accounting, marketing, operations, sales, and success. Over the past few years I’ve worked with some agencies to assist with marketing, business strategy, and talent management initiatives. I’ll never claim expertise in every area, but I’ll always be willing to dig deeper to find a suitable solution.

Currently, I’m managing two VTuber talents (Apricot/Froot, and Michi Mochievee) while providing consulting to startups on the side. Past experience includes managing event productions, convention appearances, large-scale brand collaborations, and cross-departmental initiatives. I’ve built out departments and workflows from scratch, streamlined operations to keep things moving, and come up with contingency plans on the spot when things go sideways. I’ve included a list of my past companies and roles for quick reference (however it is not inclusive of any involvement with Stealth Startups or projects that are under NDA).

I’ve also done content creation since 2007: Blogging, YouTube, and Twitch, just for fun, including streaming 100 days straight back in 2021. I realized it wasn’t for me, but it provided me with a better understanding of what creators go through, which is why I’m much more equipped to supporting from behind the scenes.
